Margarita taste-off this weekend to benefit children with cancer
HOUSTON - This weekend is calling for perfect patio weather, so Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance hopes you'll take advantage of that and join them for their annual Margarita Taste-Off on Sunday in Houston for some tasty treats, full of meaning.
You can count on it - there will be a whole lot of shakin' going on, at least by the bartenders! More than a dozen restaurants and bars will compete to win the best margarita in town.
"Join us this Sunday, November 7, at Kirby Ice House! We're having our 13th Annual Margarita Taste-Off, benefitting Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance. We help children with cancer at Texas Children's, MD Anderson and Memorial Hermann Hospitals," states Elizabeth Haines with Candlelighters.

"We have 16 different restaurants and bars competing for best margarita this weekend. It will be a blast and here we are with one of them, Eight Row Flint, right now," says Emily Deatherage, a Candlelighters YPG Board Member.
She introduced Bryan Davis with Eight Row Flint, a bar located in the Heights on Yale. "We have been participating in the Candlelighters Margarita Taste Off since we opened up our doors five years ago, and we are coming back this year looking to take the title and we'd love to see you all down there. We'll be showcasing our classic margarita using Don Julio tequila, our sponsor. We'll serve it on the rocks and there might be a little twist that we add for the actual competition, so you'll have to come down and find out what it is," laughs Bryan.

Emily is looking forward to the fabulous event with a cause.
"I have personally been volunteering with Candlelighters for about ten years now. I love this event. I think it brings not only awareness to our community but also our YPG group and now it's the best time of the year: margaritas and patios," exclaims Emily.
The YPG she mentioned is the Candlelighters Young Professionals Group, and they're hosting the event.
Everyone can taste any margarita they'd like and enjoy light bites. Funds from the event will help families battling childhood cancer.

The group offers not only emotional support, but also helps pay for expensive hospital parking, meals, and toys for the little patients. They also host special events for the children and their families, everything from family camps to spectacular professional sporting events, anything to help keep cancer off their minds for a moment.
Tickets are still available for the Margarite Taste-Off at Kirby Ice House.
The margaritas will be served in small tasting sizes, and an important reminder to drink responsibly! Click here to visit the online auction that is already underway.
