Houston Police announced a major break in the case of Dr. Mark Hausknecht, the local cardiologist who was shot and killed in the Medical Center on July 20. Officers are searching for 62-year-old Joseph James Pappas. According to investigators, Pappas had a long standing grudge against Dr. Hausknecht.

A 15-year-old has been charged with killing a good Samaritan who tried to stop a robbery. Deputies also arrested 19-year-old Gilber Gomez, Jr. Murder charges against him are pending.

The man charged with killing a Houston woman who had gone missing had been dating her for about a month, according to deputies. Jeffery McDonald was arrested just after midnight. Court documents reveal gruesome details about Rebecca Suhrheinrich's alleged murder.

A detention center for immigrant children can't open in the next few days, according to Houston officials. A stop work order has been issued for the facility at 419 Emancipation Avenue in East Downtown.
