Coaching Boys Into Men

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - One in three adolescents reports knowing a friend who has been physically hurt by her/his dating partner. The AVDA Coaching Boys Into Men program has become a vital part of some Houston-area high school athletic programs with coaches new to the program requesting it for their own student athletes.

Coaching Boys Into Men offers tools for coaches to teach their young male athletes about the importance of respect for themselves and others, especially women and girls. The program seeks to reduce the alarming rate of teen dating abuse in the Houston area.

AVDA is providing free Coaching Boys Into Men training on Thursday, Aug. 2 from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Margaret Long Wisdom High School on 6529 Beverly Hill Street in southwest Houston.
