National Coffee Day: Enjoy discounts and freebies on your next cup

National Coffee Day is here, and some businesses are offering deals on your next Cup of Joe.

According to the National Coffee Association, more Americans drink coffee each day (63%) than any other beverage, including water, based on a report from the "Atlas of American Coffee."

What and when is National Coffee Day?

According to the National Day Archives, National Coffee Day is celebrated on September 29 while International Coffee Day is celebrated on October 1.

It was first celebrated in 2005 but didn't become a popular holiday until 2009 when he Southern Food and Beverage Museum in New Orleans marked the day as a kickoff to the inaugural New Orleans Coffee Festival, according to the NDA website.

What are some National Coffee Day deals?

  • Dunkin' is offering rewards members a free medium hot or iced coffee with purchase on September 29.
  • Baskin-Robbins is offering a deal on a fan-favorite frozen treat, the Cappuccino Blast®.
  • Eight O’Clock Coffee is offering customers 15% off on any purchase of $75 or more until September 29.
  • Peet's Coffee customers can get a free drip coffee or cold brew. From now until September 29, the company is offering 25% off on select online items and reward members can get a free upsize to their beverage
  • International Delight has launched a sweepstakes where customers can enter for a chance to win a new car, and a year's supply of International Delight Iced Coffee cans. The online contest will begin September 29 and run through November 10.
