We’ll have a very warm & humid Flag Day today and Father’s Day weekend. A few storms are possible on Father’s Day, but the real action arrives with a plume of tropical moisture for most, if not all, of next week. Right now the timing is uncertain, but plan on the potential for heavy rain at times beginning Monday and possibly increasing by Wednesday. A small tropical low is possible as well and is like to stay to our south. Stay in touch this weekend for updates.

Rain will be limited through Saturday with only a 10-20% chance for rain. Temperatures will be climbing to the middle to upper 90s so be careful in the heat! Tropical moisture is expected to spread north early next week. This will be associated will a disturbance that now has a MEDIUM 40% chance to develop into a tropical system over the next 7 days. The system will likely remain weak and push into Mexico early next week. But heavy rain could lead to a higher flood risk for SE Texas next Monday - Thursday. Tropical Update: Potential systems being monitored

During this second week of hurricane season, tropics are heating up with 3 potential systems the national hurricane center is monitoring. One is off the southeast US coast with a low chance for development. The second is in the southern Gulf of Mexico with now a MEDIUM 40% chance to develop into a tropical system. The third is in the eastern Pacific with just a low shot to become a tropical depression or storm. The disturbance in the Gulf will likely stay south of Houston but will bring tropical moisture and higher rain chances next week.

Get ready for mid-June heat and humidity over the next few days with above average temperatures and only isolated rain. Highs should range from 93-97 inland and near 90 along the coast through Saturday. Scattered afternoon storms are possible on Father’s Day. Next week, heavy rain is possible as we monitor a tropical low that could move into Mexico in the southern Gulf of Mexico.

Scattered downpours along with a few rumbles of thunder are possible this evening. Severe weather is not expected but storms could produce locally heavy rain in a short period of time along with 40 mph wind gusts. Hotter weather is expected Thursday through Saturday with lower rain chances. This weekend, our attention turns to the tropics with a 30% chance that a tropical system could develop in the Bay of Campeche in the southern Gulf of Mexico. If it develops, this system should stay to our south but will spread a plume of tropical moisture our way early next week. Tropical Update: Areas of concern being monitored

The tropics are heating up with 3 areas of concern that the National Hurricane Center will be monitoring. There's an area around Florida, the Southwest Gulf of Mexico & in the eastern Pacific that's being monitored for tropical cyclone development. In Southeast Texas, our main focus will be the possible development of a broad area of low pressure in the SW Gulf of Mexico. Right now, there's a 30% chance that a tropical system could develop in the Bay of Campeche in the southern Gulf of Mexico over the next 7 days. If it develops, this system should stay to our south but will spread a plume of tropical moisture our way early next week. This will mean the risk for tropical downpours that could increase our flood threat. Models are showing the possibility of 2-4" of rain through Tuesday for parts of the area. Houston temps dangerous even when low: study

Hot weather is expected in Houston but a new study reports temperatures can become dangerous even when they are lower than previously thought. FOX 26's Damali Keth has more on the story.

The best chance for any severe weather will remain just west of Houston. Rain chances go down as temperatures increase from Thursday to Saturday. Tropical moisture from a new disturbance in the eastern Gulf of Mexico will bring a big flood threat to south Florida in the next few days. This disturbance will not impact Southeast Texas. But another big plume of tropical moisture is forecast to surge into the Gulf early next week. There's a chance a weak Gulf low could develop. The first tropical wave of the season has formed in the eastern Gulf of Mexico, Invest 90-L. Tropical moisture from this new disturbance in the eastern Gulf of Mexico will bring a big flood threat to South Florida in the next few days. This disturbance will not impact SE Texas. But another big plume of tropical moisture is forecast to surge into the Gulf early next week. There's a chance a weak Gulf low could develop. But whether we get a tropical system or not, our rain chances will likely be going up early next week. So plan on more rain that could be heavy at times on Monday and Tuesday.
