It should become Tropical storm Debby by Saturday PM. Sunday it is expected to be near Tampa Bay, still as Tropical Storm Debby. Debby is forecast to make landfall Sunday evening near the Big Bend of Florida. This system will bring several inches of rain and strong winds to Florida but should stay away from Houston this time around

Fox 26 Houston Weather Forecast
Weather for the first day of August is looking just about the same as the end of July - hot, humid, and hazy with very little chance for rain. Saharan dust brought our air quality into the "unhealthy for sensitive groups" category on Wednesday and that is expected again today and possibly Friday. Our rain chances will increase slightly for the weekend with a chance for showers or isolated storms offering little in the way of relief from the heat. A tropical disturbance in the northern Caribbean will continue its path toward the west and all of our models are now showing a threat to the Florida Panhandle, but they vary considerably as to the intensity of the storm. For now, it's not a likely threat for Texas, but we will monitor is closely. The GFS model is very aggressive with a hurricane, but others show a much weaker system.
FOX 26 Houston Weather Forecast: Saharan Dust remains in Houston

Dust plume should clear some by this weekend leading to better air quality and less hazy skies. Heat remains intense the rest of this week with rain chances increasing a bit this weekend. Otherwise, local weather will be hot and humid to wrap up July and start August as highs reach the mid to upper 90s and heat index values above 105. A tropical wave is approaching the northeast Caribbean and has a decent chance to become a tropical depression by the end of the week near Florida. Due to the disorganized nature of the system, the forecast isn't very solid just yet, so we'll monitor the outlook for any changes. The Euro computer model favors a weak system east of Florida while the GFS model shows a small low possible near the Florida Gulf Coast.
