Lots to watch in the Tropics. A Gulf Low and Potential Tropical Cyclone Two are racing to see which will organize first to become the second named storm of the season.

We are watching 2 areas in the Atlantic Basin for development. One close to home in the Gulf of Mexico has very low odds but another in the Central Atlantic could become a tropical depression or storm by next week.

TROPICS: A tropical wave over the Eastern Atlantic bears watching. The NHC is giving it a 60% chance to develop in the next 5 days. Meanwhile, in the Pacific Tropical Storm Celia continues to move further and further away from land and towards cooler waters but still could strengthen into a hurricane in the next 24 hours.

Celia continues to strengthen in the Pacific basin. Aside from swells affecting South Western Mexico, the storm does not look to have any impacts. Meanwhile, the Atlantic Basin remains quiet.

Celia is now a tropical storm and should continue to strengthen into a hurricane. The Atlantic Basin is expected to be free from tropical cyclone activity for the next 5 days.

Tropical Weather Forecast - June 20, 2022

All remains quiet in the Atlantic Basin with no development expected in the next 2-5 days. The National Hurricane Center has issued it's last advisory on Post Tropical Blas which is now a remnant low well off the Baja Peninsula Coast. Tropical Depression Celia is expected to strengthen over the next few days, however it is moving west with no impacts to land.

Two named storms continue to churn in the Pacific Basin.. Meanwhile, the Atlantic remains quiet. Our latest batch of Saharan Dust is dissipating, but another round is set to move in by the middle of next week.

Satellite imagery indicates that a small area of low pressure has formed in the southwestern Caribbean Sea. Further development of this system is possible and is keeping the attention of the National Hurricane Center. Tropical Storm Blas has also formed in the Pacific.

All remains calm in the tropics as another batch of Saharan Dust moves across the Atlantic. This will continue to suppress tropical activity through the next several days.

Everything is quiet in the tropics for now with another batch of Saharan Dust moving across the Atlantic. Hazy skies will become more apparent Sunday into early next week.
