Police investigate officer-involved shooting in Pearland

PEARLAND, Texas (FOX 26) - Police say a man shot by officers in the parking lot of a Walmart in Pearland has died at the hospital.

Pearland police responded to a report involving the discharge of a firearm in the parking lot of the Walmart in the 1900 block of North Main.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with the suspect. Police say officers attempted to speak to the man at which point the man raised the firearm at officers and officers fired, striking the suspect.

The man was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead. Police identified the man as 55-year-old Able Guzman.

The investigation is ongoing.
