Man charged with murder of Jazmine Barnes on probation in Louisiana

A man charged with murder in the deadly shooting of Jazmine Barnes was on probation in Louisiana at the time of the shooting.

Eric Black Jr., 20, was arrested in March 2017 when he was stopped for speeding and an officer found a weapon with an obliterated serial number and marijuana in the vehicle, according to the Jefferson Davis Parish District Attorney's Office

According to the District Attorney, Black pleaded guilty in March 2018 on an amended charge of illegal carrying of a firearm and was placed on probation for a year until March 2019, fined, and ordered to forfeit the gun.

A passenger was convicted of possession of marijuana.

Black was charged with capital murder in connection to the December 30 shooting death of 7-year-old Jazmine Barnes.

Barnes was in a car with her mother and sisters when someone opened fire on their vehicle.

Larry Demetricus Woodruffe, 24, was also charged with capital murder in the shooting.
