A mother and her three children pulled from a pond in Liberty County on Monday. Two of them are in critical condition. Now, deputies are trying to figure out what went wrong.
LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas - Authorities in Liberty County are trying to piece together what transpired at a pond in front of a family’s home that left a mother and 11-year-old girl in critical condition and two other children in the hospital.

What we know:
According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, they got a call around 6 a.m. Monday about a possible drowning at a home on FM 1008 near Dayton.
When they arrived, they found three kids wet but out of the water, and the mother still in the pond in front of the home.

A deputy began rendering aid to the 11-year-old girl, who regained some consciousness at the scene.
Deputies also pulled the mother out of the water. Authorities say she had a heartbeat but was not conscious or breathing.

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office provides an update on the investigation after an incident at a family's pond that left a mother and three children in the hospital.
The 11-year-old girl and the mother were taken to the hospital by Life Flight. They were last reported to be in critical condition.
A 15-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy were transported by ambulance. They were reported to be in stable condition.

According to deputies, the children’s father was the one who called 911 and reported that the children and the mother were by the water, and it was possible that the mother was trying drown the children. Deputies say the father may have pulled some of the kids out of the water.
The sheriff’s office says they are still conducting an investigation to determine what happened.
What's next:
The father is being interviewed by authorities, and the children and mother will also be interviewed when it is possible. Authorities are also searching for surveillance video and other evidence at the home. CPS was notified.
