Houston shooting: Suspect allegedly breaks into home, killed by homeowner

An investigation is now underway after a homeowner shot and killed an alleged burglary suspect on Wednesday afternoon. 

Details are limited, but Houston police said the incident occurred in the 5700 block of Heatherbloom around 3 p.m.

Houston police said a father and daughter were inside the house in their rooms when the daughter heard somebody come into the home through the front door. 

The daughter stated to police she believed it was a possible burglary that was happening. 

Officials said the daughter came out with her pistol and shot the 50-year-old suspect three times in the abdomen. 

Police stated they're unsure how the entry was made as they didn't see forced entry. 

Authorities said the father and daughter didn't know the person. 

Officials also said the suspect was not armed. 

No word yet on possible charges as further investigation is ongoing.
