Former HISD employee missing after charges, accusations he impregnated student

A former HISD employee charged with impregnating a middle school student is out on bond, but there's now another warrant for his arrest.

The former Hartman Middle School IT Specialist is now said to be on the run.  According to the Harris County District Attorney's Office, Mauricio Mendoza disappeared almost immediately after he posted bail to get out of jail.  The 37-year-old man is said to have a baby on the way with a 13-year-old student.  Last month Mendoza was charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.  Two days after posting bond, Mendoza went missing.

“He was given a specific place to live and when the bondsman went to check on him, he was not there,” explains 1st Assistant Harris County District Attorney Tom Berg.

“He was supposed to live at his current address with his wife and had a curfew for 6 p.m.,” says George Salais with Space City Bail Bonds which posted the $50,000 bond for Mendoza.

“His next court appearance in the case was not until May but because of the nature of the charge he has some fairly restrictive conditions on his release,” says Berg.

“Right now he's on the run. His house is currently for sale.  He shut down two of his phone numbers,” adds Salais.

Mendoza's wife of 13 years has also moved out of the house.  So where is the accused pedophile?

”He might be in the area or even worse he might have crossed over to Mexico.  He is from El Salvador,” explains Salais who also says Mendoza has been in the U.S. on a work visa for twelve years.  Mendoza’s passport was seized when he was arrested.

Salais says when he met Mendoza the accused child predator told him he was prepared to go to prison.  “According to him, he had already come to terms with him doing time but obviously he wasn't ready for it because he's on the run right now”.

Salais has nine months to find Mendoza or the bondsman, himself, will have to pay the full $50,000 plus interest.  “Do the right thing and turn yourself in.  You can't run forever,” Salais says hoping the message will reach Mendoza.

Mendoza has three children including one that is said to be the same age as his alleged victim.
