Coast Guard search for father & son last seen fishing in Brazos River

The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a man and his son who were last seen on Tuesday morning before they went fishing on the Brazos River south of Freeport.

Phillip Orr and his son Brandon were identified as the missing boaters, according to a statement released by the USCG.

The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Department contacted Coast Guard Station Freeport at around 9:20 a.m. Tuesday to report finding an unmanned boat circling on the Brazos River north of the Intracoastal Waterway.

Sheriff's investigators inspected the boat and found the keys were in the ignition of the boat and two cell phones were left on the boat. 

Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders diverted Station Freeport and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Houston. Brazoria County Sheriff’s Department and emergency medical services are also on scene and assisting.
