Brazoria County drug investigation: 24-year-old woman arrested

A months-long narcotics investigation by Brazoria County law enforcement ended with the arrest of a 24-year-old woman in Lake Jackson.

Mariah Mata was arrested in the 100 block of Loganberry Street on Jan. 3 after search warrants were conducted by law enforcement at the residence on Loganberry Street and another in the 200 block of North Avenue C in Freeport.

Brazoria County authorities seized about $54,000 in drugs and two firearms, one of which was reported stolen by the Houston Police Department.

The narcotics seized included about 600 grams of cocaine, 1,900 grams of Alprazolam (Xanax), 600 grams of THC oil, 200 grams of marijuana, and about 475 grams of Promethazine.

Mata faces multiple charges, such as manufacture and delivery of controlled substances, possession of controlled substances, and theft of a firearm.

Authorities say more charges could be filed pending their investigation.
