3-year-old Beaumont boy accidentally shoots self
BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) — A 3-year-old boy is hospitalized in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head after police said he accidentally shot himself at his home in Beaumont.
The shooting happened about 1 p.m. Tuesday, but KFDM-TV (http://bit.ly/25aIdKp) of Beaumont-Port Arthur reports police are still trying to piece together the events that led to the shooting. Beaumont Fire-Rescue EMS was called, but no one was at the house when the ambulance arrived.
The child was taken by private vehicle to Baptist Beaumont Hospital, where hospital spokeswoman Mary Poole says he was evaluated and airlifted to Memorial Hermann Children's Hospital in Houston in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the left forehead.
No identities have been released, and no charges have been filed. However, police and Child Protective Services are investigating.
