Houston weather forecast: Freezing Tuesday morning; rain chances coming up

After another freezing morning with some spots falling into the mid-20s, Tuesday actually looks pretty nice.

It will be chilly, but with sunshine and very dry air, it's going to be pleasant. Look for another near freeze Tuesday night followed by increasing clouds and, therefore, another chilly day tomorrow.

Snow threat for Dallas, chance of heavy rain for Houston

Trouble arrives for Thursday and early Friday with a winter storm beginning in West Texas and sweeping eastward, bringing a serious snow threat to the Dallas-Fort Worth area and heavy, cold rain for Houston.

The tricky part is where the rain/snow line brings a chance for ice. Throughout the day on Thursday and especially Friday morning, icing could take place, especially north of College Station and Huntsville. It's very unlikely to be a problem in the Houston metropolitan area and snow is not expected, but sleet pellets could mix in with the rain.

There’s a chance for heavy rain, especially near the coast on Thursday and early Friday.
