Houston mentorship program sees huge spike in volunteers following death of George Floyd
Local activist Tre9 led a Praytest following the death of George Floyd that ended with a large group of mostly white Houstonians on bended knee apologizing for years of racism and social injustice. The heartfelt moment went viral and since then, more than 1,000 men and women have stepped up to join Tre’s mentorship program GLOBE. The group’s mission is to empower at risk youth in underserved areas and focus on providing them with equity, hope and unity. Tre9, who’s been actively working in black communities around Houston for years, credits that unplanned moment as the driving force behind a spike in volunteers joining the movement for equality.
