Hundreds of children remain separated from their parents at the border due to lack of tracking system
We can't look back at 2019 and not discuss our country's broken immigration system and the way it has treated countless children. Since July 2017, more than 5,400 kids have been separated from their parents at the border. To make matters worse, the government had no tracking system in place to make sure these children could get back to their parents, leaving hundreds in limbo. Volunteers from the ACLU have been door-knocking in Guatemala and Honduras, trying to help find deported parents whose children are still stuck in the states.
