FOX 26 Houston Weather Forecast: Huge amounts of rain on the way
Flood Watch has been issued for Houston and areas near and south of I-10 from 7 pm Tuesday through 1am Thursday. Some locations in the flood watch could pick up 5 to 10" of rain during this time with isolated higher totals. That means you need to watch out for areas that could quickly flood and turn around, don't drown! Trinity River near Liberty is expected to go from moderate to major flood stage later this week so watch for the flood threat increasing here also. Big plume of tropical moisture will surge north of Potential Tropical Cyclone 1 in the SW Gulf of Mexico. This system should slam into Eastern Mexico over the next few days but will bring us several rounds of heavy rain. Heaviest rain is expected Tuesday PM - Wednesday PM and both are FOX 26 Storm Alert Days. Beach conditions will also be rough where there's a coastal flood watch & higher risk for rip currents. Lower rain chances will linger through the weekend and early next week.
