FOX 26 Houston Weather Forecast

Clouds have increased as moisture returns to the area thanks to southerly flow. Friday will be muggy and mostly cloudy with occasional spotty light rain showers. The main event appears to be Saturday afternoon as a cold front rolls across SE Texas. Ahead of this front, a round of strong storms is expected. The best chance will be Houston and areas east and northeast of Houston. Houston remains in a Category 2 out of 5 risk for severe storms Saturday with areas west of Houston in a Category 1 out of 5 risk. This means there's at least a low chance for 1 or 2 storms to become severe. Main threat would be a brief wind gust near 60 mph that could do a little damage. Hail is also possible along with brief heavy rain. Storms should push east of our area by 8-9 pm Saturday. It will be mild for December ahead of the front with temperatures in the middle to upper 70s. But look for a big drop in temperatures Sunday behind the front. We'll start off in the 40s Sunday morning with wind chills in the 30s. Bundle up for the second half of the weekend!
