Scammers using BARC animal shelter to demand money from lost pet owners

BARC Animal Shelter in Houston warns the public about a scam, saying someone is contacting people who have lost pets by spoofing the BARC phone number. The scammers are telling the owners they must pay $250 over the phone for microchipping to get their pet back.
