Tonight and Thursday we are in FOX 26 Storm Alert mode with the threat of flooding and a few severe storms. Look for a few storms tonight with a big line of heavy rain and storms Thursday morning from 4 to 11 a.m. The biggest flood threat will be north of I-10 with a moderate risk for flooding. Flood risk will be lower towards the coast. Houston is in a 2/5 severe storm risk through Thursday morning with hail and winds near 60 mph the main risks. Spotty downpours could trigger more flooding Friday before rain chances drop to 20% this weekend. Next week will feature less rain and more heat with temperatures in the 90s returning.

Additional rounds of rain could trigger more flooding problems Wednesday through Friday. So much of the area has been placed in a Marginal to Slight risk for street flooding Wednesday and Thursday. A few strong storms could also roll through Wednesday PM to Thursday AM.

Biggest problems are along the Trinity River and East Fork of the San Jacinto River where moderate to major flooding is expected the next few days. Additional rounds of rain could trigger more flooding problems Wednesday through Friday. So much of the area has been placed at a Marginal to Slight risk for street flooding on Wednesday and Thursday. A few strong storms could also roll through Wednesday evening to Thursday morning. The best chance is NW of Houston where Brenham, College Station & Huntsville are under a low 1/5 risk of severe storms. Severe storms left a trail of damage across parts of the area with the hardest hit locations north of Houston. Between 6-12 inches of rain fell between yesterday and today up around Grimes, Walker, San Jacinto, Polk, Trinity & Liberty counties. The NWS has also confirmed an EF-1 tornado around Trinity yesterday with two injuries & damage reported in the Rock Creek Subdivision. Watch out for lingering flooding issues, especially around the Trinity river. Patch fog is possible Tuesday with a few PM storms. It will be breezy across southeast Texas today. Sustained winds from the south at 15-25 mph and gusts up to 30. Muggy air remains in place with highs in the low-80s. Scattered showers are possible this afternoon and the chance for isolated storms remains mainly northwest of Houston near College Station. Storms chances return Sunday and into early next week.
