FOX 26 Houston Weather Forecast

The forecast for the next couple of days remains fairly quiet for Houston, but areas just to the north could see a few storms on Thursday. River flooding is still a problem in a few spots but conditions continue to slowly improve with the lack of any major rainfall. Wednesday and Thursday will have temperatures in the lower 90s with heat index values about 100. A weak cold front late Thursday will bring the next change to the weather pattern for Southeast Texas.

Much quieter weather pattern for southeast Texas this week. Look for only slight chances for showers or drizzle to start the week. The focus will be on temperatures as afternoon highs will soar into the 90 Tuesday-Thursday. Use caution with activities outdoors, as the feels-like temps will be at or above 100. It's early in the year for that kind of heat and our bodies still need some time to adjust. A cold front Thursday night knocks the temperatures back down and could bring an isolated storm mostly likely north of Houston. Seasonal temperatures should remain into the weekend.

Areas near the rivers currently in flood stage should continue to use extreme caution when on the roads. While some flooding has started to go down on Saturday, the expected storms could bring water levels back up again. Monday transitions into a dry and warm pattern for the middle of the week. Showers and storms continue to move across the northern portion of our viewing area this morning. A Flash Flood Warning is in effect in portions of Harris, Montgomery and Liberty Counties until 8am. 2-3” of rain has already fallen this morning and an additional1-2” is possible.

Tonight and Thursday we are in FOX 26 Storm Alert mode with the threat for flooding and a few severe storms. Houston is under a Flood Watch until Thursday evening with 2-4" of rain possible & isolated higher amounts. Look for a few storms tonight with a big line of heavy rain and storms Thursday morning from 4-11 AM. Biggest flood threat will be north of I-10 with a moderate risk for flooding. Flood risk will be lower towards the coast. Houston is in a 2/5 severe storm risk through Thursday morning with hail and winds near 60 mph the main risks. Spotty downpours could trigger more flooding Friday before rain chances drop to 20% this weekend. Next week will feature less rain and more heat with temperatures in the 90s returning.
