Hurricane season starts this week! And that means Meteorologist John Dawson is back, ready to review and talk about all the supplies you may need on his Hurricane Gear Test. He has a reminder on some basic items that all hurricane kits should include.

So far this year, we've had 14 named storms, 8 hurricane and 2 major hurricanes. But at this point, there are no tropical cyclones in the Atlantic, Gulf or Caribbean. Eastern Pacific is quiet too. In fact, no new tropical cyclone activity is expected in the next 5 days.

The National Hurricane Center stopped issuing NICOLE advisories on Friday. The Weather Prediction Center took over advisories because what was left of the system brought heavy rains to the New England states.
Tropical Weather Forecast - November 11, 2022
Nicole has now become Post-Tropical and the National Hurricane Center has issued the last advisory. Nicole still has winds of 30 mph near Charleston, West Virginia and will pose the risk for flooding and a few tornadoes up around the Carolinas, Virginia, and other parts of the Mid-Atlantic. No other tropical cyclone activity is expected in the Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean, Atlantic, or Eastern Pacific over the next few days.
Tropical Weather Forecast - November 10, 2022
Nicole made landfall around 3 am this morning just south of Vero Beach, FL as a 75 mph hurricane. Parts of Florida will continue to get coastal flooding and the threat of gusty winds and a few tornadoes. Nicole has now weakened to a Tropical Storm with winds of 45 mph on the west coast of Florida and is expected to weaken to a Tropical Depression tonight as it moves inland into southern Georgia. No other tropical cyclone development is expected over the next few days.

Nicole is currently over the NW Bahamas as a strong tropical storm with 70 mph winds and is expected to become a hurricane by tonight. Overnight, Nicole is forecast to make landfall along the east coast of Florida, bringing the threat of coastal flooding, storm surge as high as 3-5 feet, and up to 8 inches of rain. Nicole will likely make landfall in between West Palm Beach and Melbourne, Florida between Midnight and 2 AM Thursday. A few tornadoes will also be possible. Outside of Nicole, the tropics are pretty quiet.
Tropical Weather Forecast - November 7, 2022
Subtropical Storm Nicole has winds of 45 mph and is moving NW at 9 mph. Nicole is still east of the Bahamas and is expected to strengthen to a hurricane by Wednesday before making landfall on the east coast of Florida where some hurricane watches are in effect. Flooding, storm surge, and damaging winds will lash the Florida peninsula by the middle of the week. Another tropical disturbance is in the central Atlantic east of Bermuda with a 60% chance for development into a tropical cyclone.
