Final Harvey rainfall totals, peak winds from National Hurricane Center

The National Hurricane Center has released its final storm summary on rainfall and winds associated with Hurricane Harvey. Cedar Bayou, Texas recorded 51.88 inches of rain from Harvey, breaking the continental U.S. record for rainfall from a single storm. Port Aransas, Texas recorded the highest peak wind gusts, at 132 mph.

Muslims asked to donate Eid sacrifice equivalent to Harvey relief

The Council on American-Islamic Relations is calling on American Muslims to donate the equivalent of what they spend for their Eid al-Adha sacrifice to assist in relief efforts for those impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Eid al-Adha falls on Friday, Sept. 1, marking the end of the yearly pilgrimage to Mecca, or Hajj, with the "festival of the sacrifice" holiday.

Amid Harvey, NASA crew guides ISS from Mission Control Houston

A small group of “essential personnel” has remained at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, locked in due to flooding from Hurricane Harvey. Flight control of the International Space Station is continuing in the Mission Control Center, which will remain in operation. Among the highest priority mission activities is the landing of three crew members this weekend.

METRO resumes limited services on Thursday

Limited METRO local bus routes will resume Thursday, Aug. 31. There will also be limited METRORail service on the Red Line from Fannin South Station to Downtown Transit Center. Bus shuttles will provide transportation along the line from Downtown Transit Center to Northline Transit Center. Red Line service will be running every 15 minutes.
