Saharan Dust arrives in Texas
A plume of dust all the way from the Sahara Desert arrived in Texas late yesterday and should become more noticeable today and tomorrow. Air quality could be affected today as dust or "particulate matter" levels rise. Expect a condition orange - "unhealthy for sensitive groups" status today, so limit outdoor exposure if you have a heart or lung condition.
Why are earthquakes shaking Texas? Professor explains
Last Friday an earthquake centered west of Abilene was measured at magnitude 5.1 and was felt as far away as downtown Dallas. Earthquakes of that magnitude are very rare in the Lone Star State, but smaller magnitude 3’s and 4’s have become common over the last 15 years in North Texas.
