Bob McNair remembered at NRG Stadium service
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Many invited guests gathered at NRG Stadium on Friday afternoon to pay their respects for the late Bob McNair.
A memorial service took place with flowers and live music on the field. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell spoke, as well as Dr. Harris Pastides, the president of the University of South Carolina, where McNair attended college. Dr. Dave Peterson, the pastor of Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church, Texas Governor Greg Abbott and U.S. Senator Ted Cruz were also in attendance.
McNair passed away the day after Thanksgiving and one week before former President George H.W. Bush. Their common friend, former Secretary of State James Baker III, spoke on their friendship and how McNair founded the Houston Texans.
"He became a Houston success story, progressing from a car rental business that he had started with $700 to developing an energy company that he sold for $1.5 billion dollars," said Baker.
