World Series Game 5: Astros win Game 5, 3-2 against Phillies, take series lead 3-2

The Houston Astros have taken a 3-2 series lead in the World Series and are one win away from winning it all.  

In the top of the first inning, Jose Altuve bounced off the right center field wall for a double then advanced to third base. 

In the next at-bat, Jeremy Pena hits a ball right up the middle, scoring Jose Altuve from third base. Astros lead 1-0. 

Pena was later thrown out on a stolen base attempt after Yordan Alvarez struck out. Alex Bregman also struck out. Astros lead 1-0 after the top of the first. 

In the bottom of the first inning, the Phillies came right back with a solo home run by Kyle Schwarber to right field. Game tied 1-1.

After the first inning, the game is tied 1-1. 

In the top of the second inning, the Houston Astros were unable to score against the Phillies. Score remains 1-1.

In the bottom of the second inning, the Phillies got the bases loaded with two outs after two walks by Verlander. Verlander then struck out the next batter. Score remains 1-1 after two innings.

In the top of the third inning, the Astros go 1-2-3. Score remains tied. 1-1. 

In the bottom of the third inning, Jeremy Pena made an amazing play on a line drive hit that would've gone right over his head. Astros retire the side. Score tied 1-1 after three innings. 

In the top of the 4th inning, the Houston Astros strike back following a solo home-run to left field by Jeremy Pena. 2-1 Astros!

The Astros were unable to score any additional runs in the top of the fourth inning.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Phillies were unable to get any runners on base behind the back of Justin Verlander's pitching. Astros lead 2-1.

In the top of the fifth inning, the Astros were unable to extend their lead against the Phillies. Score remains 2-1 Astros.  

In the bottom of the fifth inning, the Phillies weren't able to score against the Astros. Score remains 2-1 Astros. 

After six innings, the score remains 2-1 Astros. 

In the top of the seventh inning, the Astros threatened to score another run but Yuli Gurriel was tagged out in a run down between third base and home plate. 

In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Phillies were unable to score against the Astros. Score remains 2-1 Astros. 

In the top of the eighth inning, the Astros scored an additional run. Score is now 3-1 Astros. 

In the bottom of the eighth inning, the Phillies scored one run against the Astros. Astros lead shrinks to 3-2. 

Houston Astros first-baseman Trey Mancini made a potential game saving play along the first baseline to keep the Astros ahead 3-2 after eight innings. 

In the top of the ninth inning, the Astros were unable to score any additional runs. On to the bottom of the ninth inning. 

In the bottom of the ninth, the Phillies couldn't strike back thanks to an incredible catch at the wall by Chas McCormick.
