Woman says Vietnamese political group harassed her for voting Republican

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Houston has a growing Vietnamese population sitting right around 200 thousand - and with that type of growth comes people who are politically active.

Hearing what Hun Mai Nguyen says she's been through over the last two years, according to her lawsuits, might make your head spin.

She says it's all because she went against the political grain of some in Houston's Vietnamese community— she supported Republican candidates.

Nguyen says, "I stand up with a strong voice to support the Republican party."

She has filed two lawsuits against two men— one in 2015 and the other this week.

One man, Tony Tung Van Nguyen, was successfully sued for handing out flyers and posting on Facebook  that Nguyen, a single mother, had sex with a monk and that monk fathered her children.

She actually took a DNA test with the monk to prove that allegation false.

The suit also says Nguyen has been called a Communist, Satan has ordered demons to follow her, gangs will attack her on the freeway, and if she walks near a funeral home she will be captured by ghosts.

Tammy Tran has also sued Tung Thamh Tran for smearing Nguyen's name and reputation after the most recent election where she supported a Republican in a state legislative election.

Tran says the problem is the men who are publicly harassing her client are only pawns who are destitute and she is looking to go after their bosses.

Meanwhile, Nguyen has avoided the Vietnamese community because of embarrassment and the shame she says her two sons endured after undergoing that DNA test to prove their mother did not have sex with a monk.

We reached out to the men who Nguyen sued and so far we have not heard back.
