What we know:

The incident occurred around 7:00 PM when Saucedo, utilizing a piece of hospital equipment as a makeshift tool, successfully freed himself from his restraints. A deputy, who was briefly out of the room, pursued Saucedo, but was unable to apprehend him.

A massive manhunt ensued, involving multiple agencies including K-9 units, drones, and air support. Law enforcement officers conducted an extensive search of the surrounding area, focusing on the sparsely populated region north of N. Granville Street.

However, Saucedo remains at large.

What they're saying:

Authorities are exploring two possible scenarios:

  • Succumbed to the elements: Given the harsh winter conditions, including low temperatures and inclement weather, authorities are investigating the possibility that Saucedo succumbed to the elements while attempting to evade capture.
  • External assistance: The second possibility is that Saucedo received assistance from others, potentially being hidden in the area or transported to an unknown location.
