US-59 in Sugar Land reopened Tuesday morning after being shut down overnight due to icy conditions.

The freeway was shut down in both directions on Monday night due to dangerous, icy conditions, the city said.

Drivers were able to take the feeder road, although the city advised drivers to use extreme caution because ice was still a concern on surface roads.

Around 10 a.m. Tuesday, the city said Public Works had completed their inspection of the northbound main lanes, and they were clear of ice and safe for travel.

The southbound lanes reopened about an hour later. The city said it was inspected and clear of ice.
