University of Texas ends plans for Houston campus

The University of Texas has canceled all plans for a Houston campus.

Last year, UT purchased more than 300 acres of valuable land just off the West Loop near NRG Stadium.

The University of Houston voiced concerns that a UT campus would compete for resources and students.

In a statement, UT chancellor William McRaven said he takes full responsibility for the lack of progress on the campus, and that the land will eventually be sold.
