According to a statement from Commute Air, flight 4816, from Amarillo to Houston experienced a maintenance issue shortly after takeoff.
Airline officials said instead of returning to Amarillo, the crew elected to divert to Lubbock where better weather conditions prevailed.
Officials stated after coordinating with Air Traffic Control to ensure priority handling, the flight landed safely in Lubbock.
An alternate aircraft was being sent to complete the flight to Houston.
Airline officials added, "We apologize to our passengers for this inconvenience."
