WELLINGTON, Fla. (AP) - The football stadium at Palm Beach Central High School was evacuated after gunshots rang out during a practice football game in Wellington, Florida Friday night.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says its dispatchers received multiple calls of shots fired near Palm Beach Central High School during a football game Friday night.
Deputies said it appears a group of students got into an altercation, resulting in two victims being shot.
One victim was found on school property and the second victim was taken to a local hospital by a friend. Their conditions were unknown.
The Palm Beach Post reported a helicopter landed on the field, and a man was being treated on the track.
Witnesses said the stands were full during the fourth quarter of the pre-season game when they heard the gunfire. It was not immediately clear whether the shots were fired in or near the stadium.
TV footage late Friday showed a large number of law enforcement vehicles flashing emergency lights at the scene.
The gender and age of the victims, as well as information about a suspect, had not been confirmed.
