Two dead in murder-suicide at nursing home
One of the victims is a resident of the facility, a 79-year-old woman and the other is the resident's family member, a 90-year-old man, police said.
TEXAS CITY, Texas - Texas City police say a 90-year-old man walked into his 79-year-old wife’s room at an adult skilled nursing center and shot her before shooting himself.
The deadly shooting was reported at about 2:45 p.m. Sunday at the Rio at Mainland Center in the 1000 block of Mainland Center Drive.
Officers arrived to find the man and woman both deceased in a residential room.
On Monday, the Texas City Police Department said detectives determined the shooting was a murder/suicide.
No other residents or staff were injured.
Police say the incident was contained to one room and it was not an active shooting event.
