LA PORTE, Texas - No obvious leaks have been detected after an 18-wheeler carrying lithium ion batteries overturned, the La Porte Office of Emergency Management says.
HAZMAT crews and several agencies responded to the scene near the intersection of Barbours Cut and SH-146 on Thursday.

Initially, officials said there was concern that the 18-wheeler was leaking battery acid. However, La Porte OEM later said that crews didn’t detect any obvious leaks, heat signatures or off-gassing from the container box.
The container box was being loaded onto a new chassis and taken back to the warehouse.
La Porte OEM said there was no action needed or concern for public safety measures.
Several road closures were in place during the response, and officials said delays would continue until the scene cleared.
