TRAFFIC ALERT: Major I-10 closure between 59 and 45

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - If you plan on driving into or around downtown, plan ahead.

There is a complete closure for a portion of I-10 that will likely cause major delays.

The I-10 freeway will be shutdown in both directions between 59 and I-45.

Entrance and exit ramps will also be closed throughout the area, including Lockwood, Jensen and San Jacinto.

Alternate routes into downtown include Allen Parkway, Memorial Drive, and Washington Avenue.

The closure is in effect Friday at 8 p.m. until it reopens Monday at 5 a.m.
