TOMBALL, Texas - A 16-year-old boy was shot to death in Tomball early Monday morning, and authorities say his older brother will be charged in the shooting.
The teen’s 17-year-old brother is now in custody facing either manslaughter or murder charges, investigators say.
The Harris County District Attorney's Office has accepted preliminary charges, but more interviews need to be conducted before formal charges are filed.

The shooting occurred in the 19900 block of Stone Creek Court around 3:30 a.m.
According to the sheriff’s office, there were a total of six teenagers in the home at the time, and no adults present. They were allegedly drinking, and at some point a gun was brought out.
Investigators say the gun unintentionally went off a short time later, striking the 16-year-old in the chest. The sheriff’s office says the 17-year-old brother was the one handling the gun at the time.
Authorities say the teens tried to provide first aid and called 911. Unfortunately, the boy died at the scene.
It’s unclear where they got the firearm in the first place.
The boy’s parents were tending to a personal matter away from the home, and it's unlikely at this point they will face any charges for their son’s death, authorities say.
