Bayou City Buzz - Success On The Spectrum prom
HOUSTON (FOX 26) - School is not in session, but that didn’t stop Houston hometown hero Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale from partnering with Success on the Spectrum, an organization that provides therapy to children with autism.
Success on the Spectrum, an ABA therapy provider, hosted a free sensory-friendly all ages prom event for anyone with autism and their siblings. The event took place at Gallery Furniture in north Houston.
Guests were allowed to wear whatever they like and were encouraged to dress up.
Success On The Spectrum supplied the prom decorations, bubble machines and balloons. Behavior therapists led the children through games such as musical chairs, a limbo contest and popular line dances with a DJ playing kid-friendly low volume music.
There was also a photo booth for the guests.
Mega Mania Games provided amusement for the children to engage with their young peers.
There was also a calming station for children if they needed a quiet place to rest.
In addition to the event taking place at Gallery Furniture, the business provided free food for everyone who attended, including gluten-free options.
