Day 7 - The House managers have about 5 hours left, the defense clock starts today with 9 hours remaining. Laura Olson, the woman alleged to be Paxton's mistress was called to the witness stand but was notified yesterday afternoon, with the Senate's 24-hour rule she can't appear before the same time (3:53 pm) Wednesday afternoon. Shortly before 5 pm Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, presiding officer of the court announced that the House had called Laura Olson to testify she is present but "deemed unavailable to testify."

The defense called their first witness  Michael Gearhardt, but before he could take the stand what Patrick called an "elongated conversation" ensued and he adjourned the court until Thursday morning at 9 am.

Day 7 - Ken Paxton Impeachment Trial Blake Brickman, former deputy attorney general and one of the whistleblowers suing Paxton for retaliation.

Tony Buzbee then announced the defense has filed motions for a directed verdict, which will require a vote of the senators. House attorneys responded that they had a cross-motion and now the court waits for hard copies of those motions.

Patrick announces that after meeting with senators and the attorneys both sides have withdrawn their motions.

Day 7 Ken Paxton Impeachment trial - Defense Attorney Tony Buzbee cross-examines Drew Wicker. Wicker was Paxton's personal aide.

Prosecuting attorney Erin Epley asked Drew Wicker "How many times did you hear, ‘I’ll have to check with Nate'? Wicker responded "3 times."

Before lunch, the House managers filed a motion to amend the senate rules of the impeachment.

Motion to amend Senate rules

The House managers made a motion to amend Senate rules in effect that if the jury votes to convict Ken Paxton that it would automatically prevent him from serving in office again The senators will have option to take it up anytime after 11:30 am Thursday.

Drew Wicker testified that Ken Paxton had a work cell phone and a personal cell phone and then added 2 other cell phones.
