19-year-old fugitive charged in Atlanta murder

FOX 5 Atlanta learned more about 19-year-old Jaylen Mosley who's charged with murdering a 70-year-old man and hijacking a motor vehicle. A fugitive warrant from Harris County, Texas, showed Mosley was wanted in Houston.

FOX 5 Atlanta has learned more about a teenager wanted in Texas who police say shot and killed a 70-year-old man during a carjacking in Atlanta over the holiday weekend.

Jaylen Mosley, 19, reportedly had warrants out for his arrest in Harris County in Houston, Texas, when he allegedly shot and killed the man Saturday night while trying to take his vehicle.

Medics rushed the unidentified victim to a local hospital where he later died.

"I always saw people around here, but I never saw violence or nothing like that, so it was really a surprise to me. We got too many guns, and then we shooting people for no reason, really," Hermon Baaqar told FOX 5.

Baaqar said he’s been a customer of the Banks Package Store for years. He was stunned to hear someone so young would commit such a brazen crime.

"That’s a pitiful thought there. Our children always looking around to rob us, and we the elders," the 81 year-old said.

Police arrested Mosley shortly after the incident. FOX 5 has since learned the teen was a fugitive wanted out of Texas.

He has now been charged with murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, armed robbery and high jacking a motor vehicle.

"They don’t understand the consequences that’s out there, and it’s too late to call mama when you in that little old room there. You ain’t got nothing but a bunk, a commode and a sink," Baaqar stated.

Police have not identified the victim. Mosley is in custody at the Fulton County Jail.

FOX 5 has reached out to authorities in Harris County, Texas to learn more about what Mosley was wanted for there. We’re still waiting to hear back.
