HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Texas Education Agency Commissioner Michael Williams has announced that the La Marque Independent School District has been annexed to Texas City ISD beginning on July 1, 2016.
“We respect the Commissioner’s decision, and we are prepared to move forward with the annexation process in a way that benefits both communities and all students,” said Texas City ISD Superintendent Dr. Cynthia Lusignolo.
Texas City ISD will host a Parent and Community Meeting in Carver Recreation Center on 6615 Park Avenue on Thursday, Dec. 10 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. It will be one of several public meetings for the upcoming school year.
Before the Dec. 10 meeting, Texas City ISD is encouraging citizens to submit any questions by e-mail to lmisdannex@tcisd.org. The questions, along with Texas City ISD responses, will be posted on http://www.tcisd.org/ below the Announcements heading.
“Although it’s early in the planning process, we want to assure both communities that we value neighborhood schools and the long, proud tradition of the La Marque Cougars and the Texas City Stingarees," said Dr. Lusignolo. "With this in mind, students will continue to attend their neighborhood schools for the 2016-2017 school year.”
