A suspect who exchanged gunfire with a deputy was taken into custody after a seven-hour standoff at a business in northwest Harris County on Friday morning, authorities say.
The incident began shortly after 1 a.m., when deputies responded to a call about a burglary of a business in the 13400 block of FM 529.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies approached a back door that was broken open, and a suspect fired several shots before going back inside.
The sheriff’s office says one of the deputies, a two-year veteran of the department, did return fire.
The deputies set up a perimeter around the building, and SWAT responded to the scene.
The sheriff’s office says negotiators tried to talk with the suspect inside for several hours.
Authorities say gas was deployed multiple times to try to get the suspect to come out.
According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect was in a crawl space between a false ceiling and the actual ceiling.
After several hours, he was taken into custody.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez identified the suspect as Roman Torres, 28, and said he had been charged with aggravated assault on a public servant, burglary of a building and felon in possession of a weapon.
Officials say the deputies and the suspect were not injured by the gunfire. The suspect was being assessed for any other injuries.
