KATY, Texas - The Katy Police Department has successfully apprehended two suspects involved in a shooting incident at Katy Mills Mall, bringing a swift resolution to a situation that could have escalated further.

On Monday evening, officers responded to reports of gunfire inside the mall at approximately 5:21 p.m. Upon arrival, they secured the scene and confirmed that no injuries had occurred, although the suspects had already fled in a vehicle.

Thanks to the quick and thorough investigation by Katy detectives, surveillance footage from the mall was reviewed, leading to the identification of the shooter.
A search warrant was subsequently executed at the residence of the suspect, resulting in the arrest of Aaron Noah Chavez, an adult male, and a juvenile male. The firearm believed to have been used in the incident was also recovered during the search.

Both Chavez and the juvenile suspect admitted to their involvement in the shooting, which is believed to have stemmed from an ongoing feud between two groups.
They have been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Chavez is currently held at Fort Bend County Jail, while the juvenile is in Fort Bend County Juvenile Detention.
