Suspect killed in officer-involved shooting in La Porte

LA PORTE, Texas (FOX 26) - Police say a suspect is dead after an officer-involved shooting in La Porte. It happened around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 5000 block of Glenview Drive.

La Porte police say officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a man walking up and down the street with a rifle. Police say officers made contact with the suspect's wife on scene, and while they spoke with her the suspect came out of the residence with a rifle and confronted the officers. La Porte Police Department says after repeated commands to drop the rife, the man pointed it at officers and was then fired upon by La Porte officers and struck. EMS responded to the scene and advised the suspect was deceased.

Texas Rangers and the Harris County District Attorney's Office are conducting an investigation.
