Suspect in custody in deadly stabbing of boy
HOUSTON - The U.S. Marshal's Office and Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force have taken Che Lajuan Calhoun, 31, into custody in the death of 11-year-old Josue Flores who was stabbed on Fulton Street near James on Tuesday.
The stabbing was reported at around 5 p.m. Tuesday on Fulton Street near James.
Police say Flores was stabbed repeatedly as he walked home from school.
He was later taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he died.
"We rarely have money to get by," said Isidro Barrera, the brother-in-law of the boy. "He don't have a phone. He didn't have an iPad, laptop, anything -- only electronic, all that he ever had was provided by the school. He's a very smart student straight A student. I can't believe something like this would happen."
Houston police say the attack was unprovoked.
