HOUSTON, TX - Street racing may be to blame for a fiery crash near Almeda road at the Beltway. According to deputies, two vehicles, a Charger and Mustang were traveling south on Almeda at an extremely high rate of speed last night. The Charger reportedly struck a pickup truck. This impact caused the truck to spin out of control and go off the road and catch fire. Amazingly, the couple inside the truck escaped without injury. However, the driver of the Charger that struck them stopped, removed the license plates on the vehicle and then fled the scene.
The driver of the Mustang involved in the suspected street racing crash actually continued south and struck a traffic light pole, ripping the car in half. The deputies later found the drivers involved at their home--and they also escaped without any major injuries.
