Crash, downed utility lines on Southwest Freeway service road in Houston

A crash led to downed power lines along the Southwest Freeway in Houston on Thursday morning.

The crash occurred shortly after 8 a.m. SkyFOX aerials showed at least two vehicles involved in a crash on the service road of the freeway at Newcastle Drive.

On the other side of the service road, there were utility trucks and a pile of utility lines.

According to CenterPoint Energy, the crash resulted in four broken poles and downed electrical wires, which impacted about 1,500 customers in the area.

CenterPoint Energy crews responded to the scene to make repairs. The company says they have rerouted power where possible, and as of 1 p.m., about 17 customers remain impacted as they continue to make repairs.
