Sons, widow mourn loss of cab driver who was killed

The last few days have been difficult ones for Ebony Gause, but she says she has to remain strong for her 7-year-old son who no longer has a father.

"He kept asking me, 'Mom, how did he die, how did he die?,'" says Gause. "I can't tell him that right now. His dad was shot down. I cannot tell him that. I have to wait 'til he gets older and then I'll tell him, can't tell him that now."

Gause says she and her husband, Goddy Chika, separated years ago but that they saw each other every single week. She was watching FOX 26 Morning News on Wednesday when she learned what happened.

"Had my cup of coffee and I was looking at the news and that's when I saw that a cab driver was found dead in a parking lot," describes Gause.

Leanna Smith witnessed what happened on Wednesday morning, along with others who lived at the same apartment complex.

"We were asleep, we woke up when we heard like three shots but my cousin she was like, 'I heard somebody screaming, you know like they got shot,'" says Smith.

Gause says she wants to know who would do such a horrific thing to someone so close to her, her husband and a man who was working to provide for his children.

"My son goes to his house every weekend, ma'am, every weekend to see his father," says Gause. "His father dropped him off at school, sometimes he pick him up from school and now he doesn't have that anymore. That is over with, that is gone."

Chika also leaves behind a teen son.
