Small plane crashes in Anne Arundel County, police say

A small plane has crashed in Anne Arundel County on Friday, according to police.

Maryland State Police said the pilot took off from Tipton Airfield in Fort Meade, Maryland and was attempting to return after losing engine power.

The pilot was able to land the plane on an exit ramp of Route 665 from southbound Interstate 97, according to officials.

Authorities said three people, including an adult and two children, were evaluated and found to have no injuries.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department said crews evaluated a small fuel leak.Video from the scene showed the airplane on a guardrail near a wooded area.

Police said the NTSB and FAA were notified of the plane crash.
